ANIMAL FACTORY

Based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Eddie Bunker (RESERVOIR DOGS), ANIMAL FACTORY was Steve Buscemi’s fantastic second directorial effort (after his equally great debut with TREES LOUNGE) and sees him marshaling a formidable cast including Bunker, Edward Furlong, Willem Dafoe, Danny Trejo and Mickey Rourke for a powerful and sincere account of the deals prisoners cut with each other, and themselves, in order to survive.

Troubled youth Ron (Furlong) is sentenced to ten years in San Quentin for a drug-dealing conviction. Inexperienced in prison life, he’s taken under the wing of Earl (Dafoe): an experienced con with the entire prison in the palm of his hand, inmates and guards alike. As Ron grows cocky in his privileged role as Earl’s confidant, he’s in danger of setting off the jail’s more volatile inhabitants…
