THE LAST DAYS OF CHEZ NOUS

Gillian Armstrong, Australia, 1992, Umbrella Entertainment, Arthouse

“None of the characters play their expected parts, and what we get is astonishing: movie characters who think for themselves. You see people like this and you know they will go down in flames, but always in the kind of accident where there are miraculous survivals.” -- Roger Ebert

Nominated for 10 Australian Oscars, THE LAST DAYS OF CHEZ NOUS is the acclaimed exploration of love, trust, betrayal and lust from Gillian Armstrong (STARSTRUCK, MY BRILLIANT CAREER.)

Beth (Lisa Harrow) is a modern matriarch doing her best to raise teenage daughter Annie (Miranda Otto) whilst enjoying the best of an easy-going marriage to Frenchman J.P. (Bruno Ganz). When younger sister Vicki (Kerry Fox) returns from abroad and moves into the household, she’s instantly drawn to the ideal family structure and develops a longing for what is missing in her own life. As Beth takes a trip with her dad she leaves JP and Vicki behind, unaware of the smoldering love triangle developing and the turbulence that lies ahead.
