THE GIANT SPIDER INVASION

Bill Rebane, USA, 1975, Shout! Factory, Horror

“An outrageous mix of 1950s giant monster motifs and backwoods 1970s sleaze.” - DVD Drive-In

After a black hole does some dastardly damage to our galaxy, it opens a portal to another dimension in a rural Wisconsin town, and kicks off an invasion of gigantic arachnids who crave human flesh. NASA scientists Dr. Vance (Steve Brodie) and Dr. Jenny Langer (Barbara Hale) try their best to save humanity as unlikely romance blooms.

This iconic monsterizer is infamous for the fact that the spider was partly built out of a VW bug, and it was directed by unstoppable indie filmmaker Bert I. Gordon, whose initials just happen to be as B.I.G. as this damn spider.
