Reclusive animation genius Yuri Norstein finally gets his due with a feature-length program of restorations by Deaf Crocodile, showing off Norstein’s multiple aesthetic styles and special technique (involving multiple glass planes to give the animation a three-dimensional look). Norstein’s work is a noted inspiration for Hayao Miyazaki, and this program’s HEDGEHOG IN THE FOG is legit one of the greatest animated shorts ever made.
