“It is abstract art come to life, like a fusion of H.R. Giger and the expressionist movie posters from Europe you see posted online from time to time.” - Review All Monsters
This Croatian sci-fi fantasy is a total absorbing hoot, with stunning analog optical effects, warped design, tentacled creatures courtesy of Jan Svankmajer, poetic ennui and total chaos. Struggling sci-fi writer Robert dreams up a story of gold-skinned alien androids Andra, Targo and Ulu. Incredibly, his fictional aliens become reality, ruining his relationship with his girlfriend Biba and threatening his small seaside village. It’s an Eastern European version of a Sid & Marty Krofft kids’ show, with some very unusual ideas about what constitutes a “kids’ film”.
