WARNING FROM SPACE

Kôji Shima, Japan, 1956, Arrow Films, Cult

“This big-budget production’s mature and thoughtful attitude stands in contrast to many sci-fi epics from Hollywood and Toho alike.” -- Glenn Erickson, TRAILERS FROM HELL

The first Japanese sci-fi film in color, WARNING FROM SPACE features iconic alien designs by avant-gardist Taro Okamoto and eye-popping SFX from the Daiei Studios team who’d bring GAMERA to life a decade later. As Japan is rocked by UFO sightings and large one-eyed, starfish-y aliens attempting contact, scientists band together to investigate. However, one of the aliens has already assumed human form and is about to deliver a very important message.
