ANIMAL FACTORY

Based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Eddie Bunker (RESERVOIR DOGS), ANIMAL FACTORY is Steve Buscemi’s fantastic second directorial effort following TREES LOUNGE. Troubled youth Ron (Edward Furlong, TERMINATOR 2) is sentenced to ten years in San Quentin for a drug-dealing conviction. Inexperienced in prison life, he’s taken under the wing of Earl (Willem Dafoe): an experienced con with the entire prison in the palm of his hand. As Ron grows cocky in his privileged role as Earl’s confidant, he’s in danger of setting off the jail’s more volatile inhabitants. With ANIMAL FACTORY, Buscemi marshals a formidable cast—also including Danny Trejo and Mickey Rourke—for a powerful and sincere account of the deals prisoners make in order to survive.
