BIOHAZARD

Fred Olen Ray, USA, 1985, Retromedia, Horror

BIOHAZARD is the only ALIEN rip-off in history to cast a grade-schooler as its extraterrestrial antagonist. But even better, this low budget slime-machine from filmmaker Fred Olen Ray successfully mashes the spirit of 1950s alien rampage epics with the neon-sleaze of 1980s slashers. What this means is that you can expect a fist-pumping combination of psychic scientists, gnarly gore, gnarlier sex, questionable jeep explosions, and grizzled genre legend Aldo Ray yelling at people. Plus a wise-ass “loose cannon” cop who says, “This is almost a spiritual experience.” We couldn’t agree more.
