BLACK AND WHITE IN COLOR

Jean-Jacques Annaud, France, 1976, Multicom, Arthouse

A group of bumbling French colonists in Africa learn that their country is at war with Germany and decide to conscript the local natives to help join the fight. An idealistic geographer seems to be the only rational person in town, and he takes over control after several bungles on the part of the others. Winner of the 1976 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Jean-Jacques Annaud’s BLACK AND WHITE IN COLOR is a biting and sadly still-too-relevant satire on racism, colonialism, and war.
