CARNIVAL OF BLOOD

Leonard Kirtman, USA, 1970, AGFA, Horror

“An oddly compelling scuzzbucket nightmare that somehow skirted away with a PG rating despite an abundance of weirdness and splatter.” -- Nathaniel Thompson, MONDO DIGITAL

An ominous, semi-cinéma vérité horror movie that was shot at Coney Island in NYC, CARNIVAL OF BLOOD features an early role from the great Burt Young (“Paulie” from the ROCKY franchise), pop-art gore that would make H.G. Lewis proud, and a gloriously seedy atmosphere. Director Leonard Kirtman was mostly entrenched in the adult film industry, which makes this dreamy, downbeat mood piece all the more fascinating.
