COUNTESS DRACULA

One of the more underrated films from the latter days of Hammer Films, COUNTESS DRACULA is based on the real-life Hungarian Countess Elizabeth Bathory, who stood accused of torturing and murdering more than 600 women. Whether or not the legend was true, this wild tale has a spiritual connection to modern films about beautiful psychos like THE SUBSTANCE and DEATH BECOMES HER.

The awesome Ingrid Pitt (THE WICKER MAN) stars as an aging countess who discovers she can reverse her aging by bathing in the blood of young women. While in a youthful state, the Countess impersonates her own daughter to win the affections of a handsome soldier. Soon, a heaping helping of village girls go missing in order for the Countess to satiate her deranged bloodlust.
