CRIMES OF PASSION

One of cinemaniac Ken Russell's wildest rides, in a filmography crammed full of them! This crazed erotic thriller knows almost no bounds, and features career-high performances from both Kathleen Turner and Anthony Perkins. Turner is fashion designer Joanna Crane, who at night dons the persona of "China Blue": a sex worker who attracts the unwanted attention of a psychopathic street preacher (Perkins). Using bright splashes of neon color and a script full of neck-snapping one-liners, Russell blends the extremes of a giallo and the '80s TV show "thirtysomething" into a hyper-stylized satire on marriage, religion and sexual politics.
