THE BEASTMASTER

Calling all dungeonmasters! The follow-up to PHANTASM from young filmmaker Don Coscarelli, THE BEASTMASTER is a sublime thrill-ride in the 1980s sword-and-sorcery sweepstakes. It's also the only one that was photographed by John Alcott, the Oscar-winning, Kubrick favorite DP who filmed THE SHINING and A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. Dar (Marc Singer) is the crown prince of a family that was slaughtered by a lords of evil. When he grows to manhood, Dar cultivates the ability to communicate with animals and seeks revenge on the monstrous priest known as Maax (Rip Torn). Like CONAN THE BARBARIAN and KRULL, THE BEASTMASTER is an over-the-top mix of fantasy, action, and horror that could only have been birthed in the 1980s.
