THE INCORRIGIBLE

Rarely seen outside of Japan, this Nikkatsu youth movie (seishun eiga) charts the evolving style of director Seijun Suzuki—the B-movie maverick best known for the cult classics TOKYO DRIFTER and BRANDED TO KILL. Based on Toko Kon’s novel about young love, THE INCORRIGIBLE is one of Seijun Suzuki’s first films set in the 1920s era later celebrated in his critically-regarded Taisho Trilogy.
