THE PREMONITION

Robert Allen Schnitzer, USA, 1976, Arrow Films, Horror

“Tonally some weird alchemy of CARNIVAL OF SOULS and THE BROOD.”
-- Matt Lynch, LETTERBOXD

The mid-1970s saw the rise in popularity of films on the subject of parapsychology, led by De Palma’s CARRIE. Precognition -- or “future sight” -- is the topic of exploration for the chilling and much-overlooked THE PREMONITION. Andrea, who's been released from a mental institution alongside her professional clown boyfriend (genre legend Richard Lynch), scours the area looking for Janie, her young daughter that was taken away by the state. Meanwhile, Janie’s adoptive mother experiences psychic disturbances that tip her off to something terrible on the horizon.
