THE SEDUCTION OF GINA

Jerrold Freedman, USA, 1984, Multicom, Cult

“Bummer TV movie perfection.” - Simon Barrett

Fresh off her years-long run on the successful sitcom “One Day At A Time”, Valerie Bertinelli plays against type as a young woman with a serious gambling addiction in this gripping made-for-TV ‘80s movie with cinematography by Tak Fujimoto (BADLANDS, REMEMBER MY NAME) and a rippin’ theme song by Eddie Van Halen. Gina is recently married and heavily bored. On a trip to Lake Tahoe, she succumbs to an obsession with casino blackjack and thoroughly messes up her life in the process, spiraling all the way through the whole running time. A fun watch, with a very layered performance from Bertinelli and great direction by made-for-TV auteur Jerrold Freedman.
