THE TERROR

Roger Corman, USA, 1963, Film Masters, Horror

An 18th Century French Lieutenant in Napoleon's army sees the ghostly apparition of a young woman. After two failed attempts to keep up with her, Lt. Andre Duvalier (Jack Nicholson) heads to the castle of Baron von Leppe (Boris Karloff), where he notices a painting of the Baron's late wife Ilsa, who looks identical to the ghostly woman. But as Duvalier begins to unravel the Baron's hidden secrets, will he be able to make it out of the castle alive? Shot in two days using leftover sets from THE RAVEN but with a complicated postproduction that lasted much longer, THE TERROR is a classic gothic chiller from Roger Corman, with directorial assistance from Francis Ford Coppola, Dennis Jakob, Monte Hellman, Jack Hill, and star Jack Nicholson.
