BLACK RAINBOW

Mike Hodges, UK, 1989, Arrow Films, Cult

“A rare insight into small towns and stunted lives.” -- The Guardian

Mike Hodges (FLASH GORDON, GET CARTER) wrote and directed this gothic tale of suspense and the occult as a meditation on the human race’s ability to destroy the world.

Martha Travis (Rosanna Arquette) is a travelling clairvoyant on the road with her sceptic father (Jason Robards). During a séance, Martha communicates a message from a dead man to his wife in the audience. Shocked, the wife insists her husband is still alive -- but he’s killed later that evening by a ruthless assassin! As Martha foresees more and more tragic events, a journalist (Tom Hulce, AMADEUS) pursues the pair with catastrophically eerie results.
